After Bryan and Lori Lucas both proudly retired from serving our military, they were looking for their next adventure in life. Hunting for vintage and antique items had always been a passion they shared and breathing life into forgotten pieces was something they both enjoyed!
This is why it is so perfect that they have grown their store, This Old Couch, to be a staple in the Beavercreek community. However, they didn’t build a new structure or rent space in a strip mall for their shop, they chose to preserve history within the community and set up their store in an 1896 farmhouse located at 3930 Dayton Xenia Road. They worked night and day to preserve the yellow farmhouse and now within this beautiful structure they carry a slew of one-of-a-kind, upcycled, vintage, repurposed and hand-crafted items (a lot created by themselves or by local artisans).
Community has also been a cornerstone to their store’s history. From hosting the This Old Farmer’s Market on the store’s grounds every Sunday from mid-May to mid-October to working with local businesses to improve and encourage the community to shop local, they are devoted to being a part of the thriving Beavercreek community.
Meet Our Couch Potatoes
Bryan & Lori Lucas
Owners & Proprietors
When we opened This Old Couch, we never imagined the community response we have received. We love our old 1896 farmhouse and keeping history alive in our neighborhood.
Hunting for vintage and antique items has been a passion that we wanted to share. Saving old pieces and upcycling or repurposing them into fresh new home décor is what we love.
After we both retired from our military careers, we knew this was it. Our 3 children are all grown and our family is getting bigger. We are proud grandparents and we’ll be happy to pull out pictures if you ask!
Lori likes coffee and a good book, family time, pizza and anything nerdy.
She dislikes high fives, people who dog-ear book pages and long stop lights.
Bryan likes laughter, the outdoors, sarcasm and a good beer.
He dislikes grumpy people, feet, and *ichigan football
Amy started out as a faithful customer and one day we joked about her working in the shop someday.
Well, that turned into her covering the shop, picking up furniture, listing stuff online, merchandising the shop, painting furniture, helping at the farmer’s market.
She is truly our superhero. She has saved the day for us more than once.
Amy likes nature, being creative and trucks (like a lot).
She dislikes video games, rap music and being unorganized.
